Toddlers/Twos

On behalf of Chapin Baptist Child Development Center,

we welcome your family!

Our dedicated and well-trained teachers are eager to provide a stimulating and creative educational environment for your child, while surrounding them with their love, and most importantly, the love of the Lord. We commit ourselves to a deep concern for the overall intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of each child within a Christian environment, seeking to instill a love for learning and growing in God's word.

It is our prayer that each child and family we are privileged to serve will experience with us an exciting, fulfilling year of growing and learning together through the One who first loved us, Jesus Christ.

Ages and Stages

Ages and Stages Screening detects developmental delays in children and celebrates milestones. Screening young children is an effective, efficient way for professionals to gauge developmental progress and determine meaningful next steps—at a time when action can have its greatest impact: during a child’s first years of life.

Because social-emotional and developmental delays in children can be subtle and can occur in children who appear to be developing typically, CBCDC uses Ages and Stages to screen each student a minimum of two times a year. Ages & Stages presents the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of your child through the first five years. They provide guidelines to better understand what to expect as your child grows and develops. Remember, these are only guidelines – every child is unique and can go through each of stage of development at a different pace.

The Creative Curriculum

The philosophy of The Creative Curriculum® is that young children learn best by doing. The Creative Curriculum® is built on theories of development in young children, that all children learn through active exploration of their environment and therefore the environment plays a critical role in learning. The goal of the Creative Curriculum is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive and enthusiastic learners by actively exploring their environment.

The curriculum identifies goals in all areas of development: Social/Emotional, Cognitive, Physical and Language. The planned activities for the children, the organization of the environment, the selection of toys and materials, planning the daily schedule and interacting with the children, are all designed to accomplish the goals and objectives of the curriculum and give your child a successful year in school.

The Creative Curriculum® shows teachers how to integrate learning in literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts, and technology throughout the day. It also gives the teacher a wide range of teaching strategies-- from child-initiated learning to teacher-directed approaches-- to best respond to children's learning styles, strengths, and interests.

The richer the environments, the more concrete opportunities there are for children to learn by interacting with materials and people. The teacher’s role is to create an environment that invites children to observe, to be active, to make choices, and to experiment.

If you have questions concerning the Creative Curriculum® or any of the activities that are sent home, please contact your child's teacher.
